A Travellerspoint blog

Northern Ireland

So this looks like my last post of our great trip. For some reason the blog isnt uploading my pics so it will be short and sweet today with no pics. We have been in Northern Ireland for the past 5 days. It started with some nice coastal drives and a trip to Londonderry. From there we went to one of the 2 UNESCO world heritage sites in Ireland, The Giants Causeway. It is a cool geological area with cool rocks and coastal formations.

Here is a link that I hope works for a pic

From there more coastal driving on some of the most beautiful roads I have been on. We visited a number of coastal villages which are pretty.

They last few days we have been in Belfast and this is very much one of the coolest cities I have been too. First, it is a very artsy city with a very young population and very trendy districts. Sydney and I have also learned a bunch about the "troubles" between the Catholics and Protestants. It has been an eye opening experience and I am glad I have been able to visit the most critical sites in this historic event. It will not only broaden my horizons, but will make for a fantastic grade 12 social lesson. My grade 12 text has a page on this subject but does it very poorly. I am lucky enough to at least have a working knowledge that I can bring to the students.

I have enjoyed the last 5 days in Northern Ireland and have loved the last few in Belfast. I would recommend that anyone that makes there way to Ireland make sure you get here. Sorry for the dull post, will be home in a few days. Stay tuned for the San Francisco Blog in about 12 days to finish off the summer of travel. Cheers.
